A Woman’s Right to Choose

– John Lloyd Cruz to Angel Locsin in the movie Unofficially Yours
“You may choose among thousands of stuff offered to you, but in the the end, there will only be one you can never say no to.”  Awkward translation, but that’s the gist of it, I think. Hey, at least I tried! 🙂

I have just followed the blog of a professional woman, a self described prude from Boston.

I had fun reading her dating stories, wishing that my dating stories were as varied and as richly textured as hers. I especially liked the code names she used for the men she dated, very witty!

I am a little bit envious. I imagine her to be a statuesque Julianne Moore look-alike who meets up with the Bradley Coopers of the world.

The thing about  falling in love with the person you believe to be  your soulmate, is that one single choice results into one’s abdication of one’s right to choose “other stuff”.

Once upon a time, a woman named Gloria Steinem married Christian Bale’s dad. Unfortunately David Bale died of lymphoma 3 years after they got married.

Romantic that I am, I imagine their’s to be a love story. I may be wrong; but it may also be not far-off from Truth.

STEINEM: It’s the cultural idea of masculine and feminine that’s the problem—that there is such a thing as masculine and feminine.

SHRIVER: There’s not?

STEINEM: No, there’s human.
